CHANT POSTURAL

It was a bit of a grey day in May of 2025 that I found myself sitting in an arched position on a uniquely crafted stool in a beautiful maloca on Crystal Mountain near Nelson, British Columbia emitting “aaaah” sounds with the support and encouragement of Elisabeth Baile of France.  I had received an email flyer some months earlier for a workshop entitled “Chant Postural”.  Despite not having a clear understanding of what the workshop was about, something drew me in and I had registered.

After some introductions and sharing of information, Elisabeth and her assistant spent time supporting each participant to come into a somewhat unfamiliar, and initially slightly uncomfortable, arched seated position.  In the afternoon, we each experienced an individual mini session with Elisabeth and participated in some group toning/singing.  More information was given along with opportunity for questions and discussion.  By the end of the day, I was exhausted and my body somewhat sore.

I awoke the next morning feeling rested and refreshed, and although still a bit sore, much less so than the previous evening.  During the rest of the workshop, we each experienced a couple more mini sessions with Elisabeth interspersed with group toning/singing, questions, discussion, as well as of course continuing to practice the arched posture both sitting and standing.  By the end of the second day I was already starting to notice internal shifts, most notably a feeling of being more grounded, centered and present.

In the months since the workshop, I have continued to practice the posture and toning on my own, as well as participating in a couple of online cycles where we practice with others led by Elisabeth and her assistants.  My sense of being grounded within myself and more present has continued to grow and I am experiencing an increased sense of ease within myself, as well as a greater capacity to navigate the normal ups and downs of life with more ease and grace.  I also experience less tension in my body, especially in my shoulders and back, and a hump that was beginning to form on my back at the base of my neck has essentially disappeared!  Others have also reported noticing a greater strength and clarity in their voice.

What is Chant Postural?
Chant Postural is a unique method developed by Elisabeth Baile that enhances deep emotional, psychological, and physical autonomy and well being.  Drawing from modalities such as Kinesitherapy, Homeopathy, and Osteopathy, as well was the work of Karlfried Graf Dürckheim and Elisabeth’s own experience as a singer and singing instructor, Chant Postural blends voice with a specific posture to support a transformative inner experience.
